INTRODUCTION 

The Diploma in Solar Photovoltaic Technology (DTS) is a three-year full-time programme that consists of four academic semesters and two semesters for work based learning implemented during the final year (semester 5 and semester 6). This programme is designed to provide students with multidisciplinary studies focuses in the application of electrical and electronics towards installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance for well-defined procedures and practices. It requires the application in scientific and technical knowledge and methods combined with practical skills to prepare students for their future roles in the industrial context. The Department of Community College Education, Ministry of Higher Education’s Diploma graduates are exposed to a comprehensive curriculum consisting of courses in personal development, mathematics, science, electrical electronic disciplines, and workplace competencies requirements. Graduates of this diploma programme will be equipped with specialized knowledge and skills in solar photovoltaic technology to support renewable energy sector in Malaysia.

SYNOPSIS 

Diploma in Solar Photovoltaic Technology programme is designed to produce graduates that have knowledge and skills in the field of electrical technology discipline, with specialization in the solar photovoltaic which includes, electrical and electronic fundamentals, electrical power system, electrical installations, and computer aided design while emphasizing the area of specialization. The specialization courses include project management, designing, installations, operation, maintenance, and testing-commissioning as well as monitoring in Grid-Connected Photovoltaic (GCPV) and Off-Grid Photovoltaic (OGPV) systems.
